It’s hardly a secret that varsity football season begins tonight, and previews dominated most media coverage this morning. But we still found some significant results to share from golf, soccer and volleyball.

Each weekday during the school year, we’ll gather and post media links covering the most significant and intriguing high school events from all over the state.

Girls Golf

Livonia Stevenson nearly pulled off a perfect score (based on event format) in repeating at champion of the Livonia Girls City Golf Meet – Observer & Eccentric

Boys Soccer

Battle Creek Central is a step closer to repeating as All-City Tournament winner after a 4-0 semifinal win over Harper Creek; Central will play Lakeview for the title – Battle Creek Enquirer

Rochester remained unbeaten with a 1-0 win over Lake Orion to kick off play in the Oakland Activities Association Red – Oakland Press

It just missed the MHSAA record book list for most goals in a game by two teams combined, but Warren Woods Tower’s 6-6 tie against Clinton Township Chippewa Hills still qualifies as a high-scoring contest – Detroit News

Volleyball

Mendon won the St. Joseph County Tournament with a repeat championship match clincher over Three Rivers, this time 25-18, 25-13 – Sturgis Journal
